About RC FlightPath

What

RC Flightpath Is About

RC Flightpath is a living hub for the RC helicopter, drone, and airplane community-built around real flying, real students, and real machines. The site began as an advertisement domain for a hands-on RC flight school in Southern California and has grown into a comprehensive resource for pilots who want more than surface-level information.

From local airfield information to deep technical articles, configuration repositories, and visual examples of builds and setups, RC Flightpath exists to make the RC world more approachable, safer, and more fun-especially for helis, where good guidance is hard to find.

RC Flightpath is not just a website; it's a record of years of flying, teaching, tuning, and helping pilots progress-from first hover to confident aerobatics.
About Bert

Instructor, Tuner, and Builder

RC Flightpath is driven by Bert Magbanua, an experienced RC pilot and instructor based in the San Fernando Valley area of Southern California. Bert regularly flies at the Apollo 11 RC Airfield with the Valley Flyers and has spent years immersed in RC helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and multirotors.

Experience and Credentials

  • Extensive hands-on experience with RC helicopters, including setup, tuning, and troubleshooting of spool-up vibration, blade tightness, and flight controller behavior.
  • Active RC flight instructor, preparing structured multi-day training syllabi for visiting students and local pilots.
  • Technical background in electronics and custom charging tools, including XT60-powered PD65W USB-C field chargers and 3D-printed cases and organizers.
  • Server and web administration skills (Lighttpd, SSL, certbot), used to keep RC Flightpath fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Deep involvement in flight controllers and FBL systems (RotorFlight, iKON, BeastX, Spektrum), with real-world configs shared for community benefit.

Bert's approach is methodical and documentation-driven: he prefers clear, structured explanations and reusable workflows. That mindset shows up everywhere on RC Flightpath-from PID tuning flowcharts to CSV tables of models, laptops, and calibration charts.

Community Involvement

  • Provides one-on-one and small-group training at local fields, including Apollo 11 RC Airfield.
  • Helps pilots rescue "problem" helis and drones by diagnosing mechanical and electronic issues, then documenting the fixes.
  • Shares configs, tables, and articles publicly so others can learn from real setups instead of guessing.
Mission

Serving the RC Community

RC Flightpath is built around a simple mission: serve the RC heli, drone, and airplane community with practical, technically accurate, and field-tested information.

Training and Mentorship

  • Helping new pilots get safely airborne with helis, planes, and multirotors.
  • Guiding intermediate and advanced pilots through tuning, setup refinement, and confidence-building flights.
  • Using structured syllabi and repeatable checklists to make progress measurable.

Technical Depth, Not Hype

  • Explaining flight controller parameters, PID tuning, and mechanical setup in plain language.
  • Documenting real-world configs and sharing them as reference, not "magic numbers."
  • Using articles and tables to connect theory with what actually happens at the field.

Open Resources for the Public

  • Hosting manuals, images, and configuration files for helis, drones, and related gear.
  • Providing motor, ESC, and battery planning information to help pilots choose wisely.
  • Maintaining a repository of CSV tables and charts for calibration, pricing, and model tracking.

Whether you're trying to understand how a brushless motor works, how to size a power system, or how to tame a twitchy heli, RC Flightpath aims to give you the "why" behind the "what."

Site

Content and Resources

The file structure of RC Flightpath reflects how much ground the site covers. A few key areas:

  • Pictures and Visual Examples
  • Heli Configurations and Flight Controller Data
  • Articles and Technical Knowledge
  • Tables, Charts, and Data
Training,

Consulting, and Support

RC Flightpath is tied directly to real services offered to pilots and we have a long history of work with many clients-evidence of ongoing training, setup, and consulting for RC enthusiasts.

  • New heli and drone builds, including component selection and wiring.
  • Flight controller setup, tuning, and rescue of problematic models.
  • Field training sessions to build confidence and skill.
  • Ongoing support, adjustments, and documentation of changes over time.

RC Flightpath uses this real-world work to refine its guidance and share patterns that help the broader community avoid common pitfalls.

Identity

and Values

RC Flightpath is built on a few core values:

Safety-first flying Honest technical detail Community over ego Documentation and repeatability Support for helis, drones, and planes

Bert's involvement in RC is not casual-it's a long-term commitment to understanding the machines, teaching others, and leaving behind resources that make the hobby more accessible. The site's mix of photos, configs, articles, tables, and scripts (such as gen_sitemap.pl, send_mail.php, and various index.cgi files) shows a full-stack effort: from flying and tuning to web infrastructure and information architecture.

If you care about RC helis, drones, or airplanes-and you want guidance that comes from someone who actually flies and teaches-RC Flightpath is built for you.
