El Dorado RC Park: Home of Harbor Soaring Society & El Dorado Silent Fliers
Overview
El Dorado Airfield is an AMA registered flying site (Club #2523) situated within El Dorado Regional Park in northern Long Beach, CA. The park hosts multiple flying zones beautifully laid out over well-maintained grass, catering to airplane, sailplane, helicopter, and multirotor/drone pilots alike.
Because the park is only a couple of miles from the coastline, it enjoys a "beach-like" climate with cool, refreshing breezes all year long. Be prepared for morning marine layers/overcast, warm summer afternoons, and occasional Santa Ana wind events.
The gated park entrance on Spring St. opens daily at 7:00 AM and requires a vehicle entry fee (typically $6 to $8). Pit areas feature picnic benches, but there are no power hookups and the bathrooms are a short walk or ride from the flight stations, so bringing a generator and folding chairs is highly recommended.

Contacts:
Yes, El Dorado East Regional Park has an active Park Ranger Station that you can contact directly to report safety hazards. According to the official El Dorado East Regional Park Model Flying Field Rules, a situation like this should be reported immediately to park staff or law enforcement
Ranger Station (Main Office):
- Phone: (562) 570-1771
Long Beach Police Non-Emergency Dispatch:
- Phone: (562) 435-6711
Having people wander onto the designated remote control field for a scavenger hunt is incredibly dangerous for both the participants and the pilots. Give the Rangers or the gate staff a call so they can send someone over to clear the field and move the group to a safe, non-flight zone.
& Regulations:
- Pilots are asked to supervise the flying area and take immediate action to correct unsafe acts.
- Violations can be reported to Park Staff/Rangers at (562) 570-1771. LBPD dispatch is (562) 435-6711.
- Launch, land, and pilot in designated areas only. If people are on the dirt field, you can't move to the grass glider field instead. It's still a shared public park. The heli and drone pad is across the road from the glider field, jus North of the Golden Grove picnic area.
