The new Stratos 700

Model: XLPower Stratos 700

The XLPower Stratos 700 represents XLPower's next-generation 700-class architecture. Redesigned from the ground up, the Stratos 700 combines a lowered center of mass, a heavy-duty belt-drive, enlarged swashplate and tail bearings, an internally routed pushrod boom structure, and a 12S-optimized power platform.

GENERATIONAL ARCHITECTURE NOTE: The Stratos 700 replaces legacy Specter 700 mechanical geometry. It updates the drivetrain to a 125T main gear / 119T main pulley system, enlarges the tail shaft to 8mm, lowers the intermediate assembly by 15mm, and adopts an internal 3mm titanium tail pushrod inside a custom aluminum boom profile.

2. High-Rigidity Main Rotor & Control Geometry

The Stratos 700 head and swashplate assembly are optimized for zero play and rigid phasing under high collective loads:

Rotor Assembly
  • True 1:1 Geometry: Provides linear, predictable control response across the entire cyclic and collective pitch spectrum.
  • Ultra-Short Reverse Phase Arm: Reverse-mounted phase arm design creates a compact, high-rigidity rotor head with precise phasing.
  • Enlarged Swashplate Bearing: Upgraded to a 35 × 47 × 10 mm double-row angular contact bearing for superior stability under extreme thrust loads.
  • Swashplate Anti-Rotation: Features a PTFE-sleeved anti-rotation ball to minimize wear and mechanical play.
  • Tapered Damping System: Comes standard with a high-rigidity tapered damping system for extreme 3D (standard O-ring POM damping optional for sport flying).

3. Drivetrain & One-Way Bearing System

Drivetrain Component Specification / Feature
Main Gear 125T heavy-duty main gear
Motor Pinion 13T standard (12T, 14T options available)
Main Drive Pulley 119T high-torque belt pulley
Tail Pulley 24T standard (25T optional)
One-Way Bearing System Enlarged 19 mm integrated sleeve (50% higher torque capacity)

The entire mass distribution and intermediate shaft assembly of the Stratos 700 are lowered by 15 mm relative to previous platforms, significantly improving roll rates and centralizing model inertia.

4. Reinforced Tail Drive & Boom Structure

ENGINEERING FOCUS: The Stratos 700 features an all-new custom-profile aluminum tail boom designed to house a one-piece 3mm titanium tail pushrod internally. This eliminates external guides, pushrod flex, and linkage failure joints.
  • Upgraded Tail Shaft & Spindle: Hardened 8 mm tail shaft supported by heavy-duty NSK 8 × 19 × 6 mm bearings, paired with a 6 mm tail spindle.

  • Click to enlarge and see the new integrated push rod tube
  • PTFE-Sleeved Pitch Pin: Minimizes tail pitch slider play and friction for long-term tail authority.
  • Weighted Tail Blade Grips: Designed to dynamically reduce tail-servo loading and enhance lock-in during aggressive pirouette maneuvers.
  • Front-Mounted Tail Servo: Front-mounted, top-positioned tail servo placement supports optimal fore-aft center of gravity balancing.

5. Airframe Construction & Battery System

Carbon Fiber Frame Architecture

Upper Frame Assembly

The chassis utilizes a two-piece dual-thickness carbon fiber frame configuration: a 2.5 mm upper carbon fiber frame for maximum main-shaft and servo-block torsional rigidity, and a 2.0 mm lower carbon frame featuring chamfered edges and painted accent detailing.

Power System & Battery Tray

  • Motor Compatibility: Designed for 4530-class high-torque outrunner motors (480–550 KV). Supported by a one-piece CNC motor mount for consistent gear mesh.
  • ESC Requirements: 130A to 260A High-Voltage ESC (12S rated).

  • Drive train & frame
  • Battery System: Utilizes arched rear-loading battery tray rails secured via M3 through-bolts. Accepts dual 6S LiPo battery packs (5,000–6,000 mAh) up to 380 × 70 × 68 mm. Compatible with an optional quick-release battery connector.

// DOSSIER VERDICT

The XLPower Stratos 700 represents a total engineering shift from the older Specter 700 generation. By combining a 15mm lowered CG, 125T drive system, 8mm tail shaft, 19mm one-way sleeve, and an internally routed 3mm titanium tail pushrod, the Stratos 700 delivers unmatched durability and precision for modern 12S 3D competition.
