ExpressLRS (ELRS) offers multiple ways to bind a receiver to a transmitter module. Traditionally, pilots use the “three‑power‑cycle” bind method or hold the receiver’s boot button while powering it on. But ELRS also supports a binding phrase—a shared password that allows the transmitter module and receiver to automatically bind without entering bind mode manually.
Using a binding phrase is faster, more convenient, and ideal for pilots who frequently swap receivers or maintain multiple aircraft. This guide walks you through the entire process using a Commando 8 radio for demonstration, but the steps apply to any ELRS‑compatible transmitter module and receiver.

ExpressLRS RX

Once both devices share the same binding phrase:
Put the TX into Wi‑Fi mode, connect to ExpressLRS TX, open the web interface, set your binding phrase, save, and reboot.
Enter receiver Wi‑Fi mode, connect to ExpressLRS RX, set the same binding phrase, save, and reboot.
Power on both devices and they bind instantly—no manual bind mode required.
